STEFANIE PROKITY
Stefanie Prokity has sixteen years of experience in Virginia public schools, nine as a classroom teacher, and seven as an administrator, including assistant principal and principal at both the elementary and secondary levels.

Ms. Prokity is principal of Central Elementary School in Amherst County, Amherst, Virginia. Central Elementary school had been a school “warned” by the state due to very low performance on state standardized tests. By placing a strong emphasis on reading and mathematics and data analysis, Mrs. Prokity raised expectations for students and teachers – and achievement levels soared and Central Elementary School became a fully accredited school after only one year with Ms. Prokity as the instructional leader. Central Elementary still retains its full accreditation status today. Mrs. Prokity researched, developed, and implemented a Saturday remedial program partnered with Sylvan Learning Center, focusing on a researched based reading and mathematics curriculum. After school academic clubs and extracurricular activities were implemented to boost students’ self-esteem and self-confidence. Eight business partnerships were established to jump-start community support. Weekly newsletters, P.T.O. sponsored events including fundraisers, festivals, carnivals, and multi-cultural events, and a new parent resource center designed to equip parents with skills and tools to help their children at home forged a strong parent/educator relationship that was once lacking. Ms. Prokity is an advocate for her students, a motivator to her staff, and a trusted community liaison.

Because of Ms. Prokity’s expertise in the field of education she has recently had the honor to present at local, state, and national conferences, including, Lynchburg City Public Schools “Best Practices” workshops, the Virginia Testing Director’s Annual Conference in Richmond, Virginia and at the National Reading First Conference in Reno, Nevada.

Ms. Prokity is a recognized and involved member of the following organizations; VAESP, NAESP, AEA, VEA, NEA, and Kappa Delta Pi. She received recognition and induction into the Manchester’s Who’s Who for professional leaders among women in 2006.

Stefanie C. Prokity received her B.S. in Elementary Education, NK-8 from Liberty University and her M.Ed in Educational Leadership, Elementary and Secondary endorsements, from Lynchburg College.
